The Long Good Ride 2012 – Mark and Darren’s LEJOG Tour

Darren and myself are planning a sponsored cycle from Lands End to John O’Groats later this year aiming to raise much needed funds for Salisbury Stars Appeal and the CF Trust.

We are looking to cycle around 120 miles per day starting 24th August 2012 and complete the ride within 9 days. We will be ably supported by Darren's brother, also called Mark, who will be doing the important job of driving between campsites to ensure our tent is ready for our arrival, plus providing mechanical support (and chef duties!).

We appreciate cycling the length of Britain is not an original idea, however to us it represents a massive challenge as neither of us has attempted to cycle anywhere near this distance before. We will have to put in many, many hours of training in the build up to completing this challenge with the main aim of raising a large sum of money for worthwhile causes.

Every penny we raise in sponsorship will be split evenly between our two chosen charities, all expenses incurred will be entirely self funded. All sponsorship will be greatfully received, no matter how large or small.

We have created this blog to serve as a training diary and will also post updates on the actual ride itself. Please keep checking this blog for updates.

Thanks very much for any support you can offer!
